Medical Foundation
The Science Behind The Treatment
The face is thoroughly cleansed of all makeup and skincare products. Safety goggles are applied to protect the eyes. The patient is positioned 15–20cm from the LED panel. The blue light session runs for 20 minutes at 415nm. No sensation is felt during treatment — there is no heat, no pain, no vibration. Immediately following the blue light session, a 10-minute red LED session (630nm) may be added to reduce post-blue-light skin flushing and enhance the anti-inflammatory healing effect. The patient can apply their prescribed topical products immediately after and return to normal activities without any restriction. Total appointment time: 35–40 minutes.

Pre-Treatment Steps
- • Avoid active retinoids and harsh exfoliants 3 days prior
- • Inform doctor of any active cold sores or medication
- • Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin
Post-Treatment Guidelines
- • No specific restrictions after blue light therapy — it is completely non-invasive.
- • Apply prescribed topical retinoid or benzoyl peroxide after your session as usual.
- • Avoid picking or squeezing active spots — this causes PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) and scarring.
- • Apply SPF 30+ daily — blue light therapy can temporarily increase photosensitivity in some patients.
- • Maintain prescribed dietary changes between sessions — diet is a key driver of acne and clinical results are enhanced by dietary compliance.
- • Drink 2.5–3 litres of water daily to support skin detoxification.
- • Keep a breakout diary between sessions to help identify remaining dietary or stress triggers.
