Medical Foundation
The Science Behind The Treatment
A thorough facial analysis is performed, including frontal, lateral, and oblique photographs and a 3D assessment of facial proportions and volumes. Treatment goals are discussed and consent is obtained. The skin is cleansed and topical anaesthetic (or injectable lidocaine block for lips) is applied. The filler is drawn up in a syringe and the cannula or needle is selected based on the treatment zone. Filler is placed in the correct tissue plane (periosteal for cheekbones, subdermal for nasolabial folds, intradermal for lips) using either a linear threading, depot, or fanning technique depending on the location. After placement, the filler is gently moulded to ensure smooth, even distribution. Mild swelling is normal and peaks at 24–48 hours. Final results are assessed at 2 weeks. The procedure takes 30–60 minutes depending on zones treated.

Post-Treatment Guidelines
- • Apply a cold compress gently to the treatment area for 10–15 minutes in the first 2 hours to reduce swelling.
- • Do not massage or apply pressure to the filler for 24 hours — it needs time to integrate into the tissue.
- • Avoid alcohol for 48 hours — it increases bruising and swelling.
- • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours post-treatment.
- • Avoid facials, massages, or beauty treatments involving the face for 2 weeks.
- • Sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated for the first night.
- • Return for your 2-week review — this is when any needed top-up or adjustments are made.
