Medical Foundation
The Science Behind The Treatment
The PRP procedure begins with drawing 10–15ml of blood from the patient's arm. The blood is centrifuged at 1500 RPM for 10 minutes to separate the PRP layer from the red blood cells. The PRP is aspirated and prepared for injection. The scalp is cleaned and numbed with topical anaesthetic cream applied 30 minutes prior. The PRP is then injected using a series of micro-injections (32G needles) across the areas of thinning at a depth of 3–4mm into the dermal layer where the follicular unit resides. The injections are evenly spaced at 1cm intervals. Total injection points typically range from 80–120 per session depending on the area treated. The procedure takes 30–40 minutes and the patient can return to normal activities the same day. Mild redness or pinpoint swelling on the scalp can persist for 24–48 hours.

- • Inform doctor of any active cold sores or medication
- • Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin
Post-Treatment Guidelines
- • Avoid washing hair for 24 hours post-session.
- • No vigorous exercise or steam/sauna for 48 hours.
- • Avoid NSAIDs (ibuprofen, aspirin) for 3 days before and after session as these reduce platelet activity.
- • Use gentle, sulphate-free shampoo for 1 week post-treatment.
- • Apply prescribed growth serum on alternate days between sessions.
- • Wear a hat or scarf in direct sunlight for 48 hours.
- • Inform the clinic immediately if you notice unusual swelling, fever, or redness persisting beyond 72 hours.
