Medical Foundation
The Science Behind The Treatment
The mole is assessed clinically and dermoscopically. If benign, the patient provides consent. The surrounding skin is cleaned with antiseptic. Local anaesthetic (1% lignocaine with adrenaline) is injected subcutaneously around the mole base. The RF probe is applied to the mole surface and activated at a calibrated power setting. The mole is systematically reduced in height using tangential RF passes. The result is a flat surface (level with surrounding skin) with minimal tissue char. A thin crust forms over the treated area over 24–48 hours and sheds naturally in 7–14 days to reveal normal-appearing skin. Biopsy of removed tissue is available on request.

Pre-Treatment Steps
- • Avoid active retinoids and harsh exfoliants 3 days prior
- • Inform doctor of any active cold sores or medication
- • Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin
Post-Treatment Guidelines
- • Apply prescribed antibiotic cream (mupirocin or fusidic acid) to the treated area twice daily for 5 days.
- • Keep the area clean and dry — gentle wash with mild soap, pat dry.
- • Do not pick or scratch the crust — allow it to shed naturally.
- • Avoid swimming, sweating, and direct sun on the treated area for 2 weeks.
- • Apply SPF 50+ on the healing area from day 10 to prevent PIH.
- • Return for your 4-week review for a healing assessment.
- • Inform the clinic immediately if you notice any unusual redness, discharge, or changes at the site.
