Medical Foundation
The Science Behind The Treatment
The skin is cleansed and dried. A thin, uniform layer of medical carbon suspension is painted across the face and allowed to dry for 5–10 minutes. The carbon penetrates into pores and adheres to sebum and debris. The Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser at 1064nm is then passed over the carbon layer in two phases: first a 'carbon burst' pass at low fluence to heat the carbon and encourage it to penetrate deeper into pores, then a 'carbon peel' pass at higher fluence that causes the carbon to explode — exfoliating the pore, destroying bacteria (Cutibacterium acnes), and delivering a photon toning effect. The patient hears a series of small popping sounds during the peel pass. The procedure takes 25–30 minutes and leaves the skin feeling clean, smooth, and noticeably brighter immediately after. There is no peeling, no redness beyond 30 minutes, and no downtime.

Pre-Treatment Steps
- • Avoid active retinoids and harsh exfoliants 3 days prior
- • Inform doctor of any active cold sores or medication
- • Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin
Post-Treatment Guidelines
- • Apply a light, non-comedogenic moisturiser after the treatment — skin may feel clean and tight.
- • Apply SPF 50+ sunscreen the following morning — do not skip this step.
- • Avoid touching or rubbing the face for the rest of the day.
- • No makeup for 12 hours post-treatment to allow the skin to breathe.
- • Avoid hot showers or steam on the face for 24 hours.
- • Use a gentle cleanser (pH-balanced, sulphate-free) for 5 days post-procedure.
- • Do not apply retinol or acids for 3 days post-peel.
